Extreme Makeover Home Edition - Kirkland
KIRKLAND - When you think of ABC's "Extreme Makeover - Home Edition," you probably don't think Kirkland. But the wrecking ball is about to knock down a Kirkland family's home, and they couldn't be happier. The family has lived in their little yellow house in Kirkland for decades, but time has taken its toll.
"Structurally, it's a mess," said John Littlefield, a member of the show's design team. "It could cave in at any time."
Connie Chapin is raising four kids on her own, and supports the family by teaching disadvantaged kids to swim in the back yard swimming pool. The house almost 100 years old and was ready to fall over and Connie has never lived anywhere else. It was an answer to a dream; answer to prayers; an answer to a lot of problems that I can't solve myself," said Connie Chapin.
I got a call from my good friend Ron Clark of Deep Channel Construction who was one of the several construction companies involved with this project. He said that it is raining so hard that there was no way they would have this home done in one week. He was looking for volunteers to help. So I said sure, I will come out and help for a day. That day one day turned into 5 days working in the pouring rain and was one of the most satisfying experiences I have ever done!
When Ty yelled move that Bus…. The reaction from thee Chapin’s family made it all worthwhile.
Ron – Thanks for the call!
